About the site
About FixMyStuff.ca
FixMyStuff.ca is a Canadian search service for local repair and home-service businesses. It is free for homeowners, takes no account to use, and is written and run from British Columbia.
Who runs it
FixMyStuff.ca was started by Michael, who runs a mobile blind repair business in BC’s Fraser Valley and spent years watching homeowners struggle to find a straight answer about what a repair should involve, who is allowed to do it, and what to ask before paying a deposit. The repair guides on this site are written and reviewed by him, with every regulatory statement linked to its primary source.
Where the listings come from
The businesses shown in live search results come from Google Maps at the moment you search; we do not store, rank or edit them, and the “Business results provided by Google Maps” note appears wherever they are shown. Featured placements are paid and are labelled as such. Business profiles are written and approved by the business owner, and the site does not verify licence or insurance numbers against any registry; the profile says so.
How the guides are written
Each guide separates sourced facts from estimates and from community anecdotes. Cost figures are cited from published Canadian sources and labelled as planning references, never as a local price. Licensing, permit and safety statements link to the provincial or municipal authority so you can confirm them yourself. If something is out of date, email us and we will fix it.
How businesses get on the site
Any business that appears in Google Maps can already appear in live results. Owners can create a free profile page in their own words, claim a listing, or pay for featured placement at the top of category searches. Featured placement never changes what the live results show.
