Protect your data before drop-off
Use a current backup and sign out of sensitive accounts if the problem allows. Do not share your primary account password casually. Ask whether the repair can be completed with a temporary local account, your drive removed, or you present for any login-required test.
Record the serial number, charger, accessories, existing scratches, and storage capacity on the intake receipt. If the drive may be failing, ask whether diagnosis writes data to it and whether data recovery is a separate service.
